I love these dresses. I am a father to 3 daughters (all grown up now) – seeing this post reminds me of how awesome they are at this age. We went to great lengths to create ‘dress up’ ideas and things for them to use.

Great prices on these and so easy to obtain these days!

    • Marlaine December 2, 2016 at 2:18 pm

The dress up age is so much fun! I assume from what you wrote that you miss it a bit. 🙂
My mom used to go to great lengths to make our dress up collection pretty great too… she would even sew us dress up clothes on occasion! A skill that I didn’t ever learn, unfortunately. I remember her being very creative for Halloween and school dress up day outfits! But yeah, the low prices on some fabulous costumes these days make sewing hard to compare, price wise at least. Thanks for chiming in!

    Hi Marlaine,
These Elena of Avalor costumes are adorable. I love the Official Disney one. My best friends daughter’s name is Elena so she is over the moon that a princess is named after her. Super cute!

    • Marlaine December 2, 2016 at 9:23 pm

Oh wow… yeah, I can just IMAGINE how excited my daughter would be if there was a Princess “named after her”!! So exciting! The official Disney one is gorgeous in real life too – I saw it tonight at the toy store and wow… the colors are SO vibrant!

  3. Beth Terrell December 2, 2016 at 6:28 pm

I love these costumes–and the idea of a whole site devoted to creative play and playing dress-up is awesome.

Of these, I think my favorite is the Disney official version, but the tiara shown in the accessories list just puts the icing on the cake.

    • Marlaine December 2, 2016 at 9:22 pm

Creative play is SO wonderful! I just love watching my kids run around in costumes! Their current favorites are a tiger suit and a firefighter outfit, but we saw some of these exact dresses at the toy store tonight with our 3.5 year old daughter and she was rather entranced by them! The official Disney version one was there and it’s stunning (as far as girls gowns go, of course!) The red is so vibrant!! 🙂
Thanks for dropping by, and I’m glad you enjoyed the site! I sure have fun working on it!

  4. Robin December 3, 2016 at 8:31 pm

Omg! Marlaine you have got a wonderful site! My niece is really into dress up! She is currently into super heros and I dont think she knows about this new Disney princess as yet. Is this a new cartoon on tv or a movie that has come out? Either way, am sure she will want all the gowns as soon as she sees it. And auntie will be able to provide them now! Thanks for a wonderful article and Moms are going to go crazy this Xmas buying for their little girls!

    • Marlaine December 4, 2016 at 2:48 am

Thanks Robin! Glad you had some fun looking around. 🙂 Check out these super cute Superhero Costumes for Girls for your niece!

Princess Elena of Avalor is a television series, actually, on the Disney channel… it’s a spin-off of Disney Junior’s Princess Sofia’s story. 🙂

    Hi Marlaine,

These costumes are just adorable. Our family goes to great lengths to find costumes for our granddaughters to wear to shows like “Disney on Ice” and “Ice Age”. And they love all the other pampering that goes with it; the makeup, the new hair style, the new shoes and accessories too. And they absolutely love all the compliments they receive from other people, it just adds to their event experience and their childhood memories.

This is a wonderful post 🙂

    • Marlaine December 5, 2016 at 2:25 pm

I took my little girl to “Disney on Ice” last year for the first time and yes, what a BLAST! It’s so fun to see all of the little girls dressed up as their favorite Princess. What great memories you’re making with your grandchildren! Awesome!! 🙂

  6. BiboKid December 5, 2016 at 4:02 am

My daughter will love these dresses especially that they have an attracting color! She’s just 3 years old but is already picky when choosing clothes to wear. She even wears a dress during bedtime. Haha! I’m going to show these to my daughter and have her pick one or two. I like to Elena of Avalor Inspired dress though. And the prices are reasonable compared from stores!

    • Marlaine December 5, 2016 at 6:10 pm

I agree! Online prices for these dresses ARE a bit cheaper, I’ve found!

Isn’t it amazing how particular our little girls can be about clothes at such a young age already? Dress up can be such a fun area to let their preferences shine!

  7. annicklablache December 6, 2016 at 12:31 pm

These dresses are beyond adorable.I don’t have kids yet but my friends do and some of them will go to great lengths to find the perfect princess outfits for their kids. It’s super adorable and slightly scary lol but their kids love it.These will make awesome gifts for their kids especially on Halloween they’re super cute. Very nice article and very informative.

    • Marlaine December 6, 2016 at 6:10 pm

Thank you! Princess dress up I think has become a bit of an obsession for some, so I get exactly what you mean with “slightly scary” . 🙂 I’m really trying on this site to highlight a bunch of non-Princess dress up pages too, to help parents round out their kids’ dress up play. Check out Superhero Costumes for Girls or When I Grow Up Dress Up to see what I mean.

      Have a great day!

      Marlaine

  8. Michel December 6, 2016 at 8:04 pm

I just love these costumes, and when I was small I think this would have been the ideal gift for me.

Elena of Avalon seems to be the new craze at the moment, so I am sure little girls everywhere are begging Santa to have one of these dresses placed beneath their trees.

Some of the dresses look like they won’t last though, and one as to be very careful of the quality of the gown before buying online.

    • Marlaine December 7, 2016 at 2:12 am

I agree with you – not all costumes are created equally, and it seems like even suppliers of the same dress vary sometimes too in quality. You can read and see that in reviewers comments and photos… some say “fantastic quality”, and others “garbage”. Tricky, isn’t it? Online shopping, it’s a bit of a gamble on occasion. One plus however, is that there are so many more options available! 🙂

That being said, you can usually be confident with quality of the official Disney Store dresses, I find.

And I also agree with you that Elena of Avalor dresses are going to be a popular gift this year!

Cheers, and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      Marlaine

Great site you have here. I love the costume idea of Princess Elena of Avalor. Classic Ball Gown would be my pick, I have a niece that would just love this costume, you gave it a 4.7 out of 5 and it is on the inexpensive side of your reviews. Which one would you recommend the very most?

    • Marlaine December 10, 2016 at 1:39 am

I think I agree with you that as far as a good value for your money is concerned, the Classic Ball Gown is the best pick. But I’ve seen the Disney Store Elena of Avalor gown “in real life” and it’s REALLY cute – that’d be my pick. Unfortunately, it’s the most expensive. Just my luck. 😉

  10. Matt's Mom January 18, 2017 at 3:08 am

What a great collection of costumes for little girls. I think the whole princess elana of avalor is a great idea. I love the color and the different choices. I especially like the Elena of Avalor Classic “Adventure” Dress. How sweet is it. I have to nieces, and now I have an idea for them for birthdays. They would both absolutely love these.

    • Marlaine January 18, 2017 at 8:56 pm

Thanks for commenting! I love the bold red “Spanish” gowns too! Very fun! 🙂

  11. Jen January 19, 2017 at 8:51 pm

I enjoyed looking at all the Princess Elena costumes. These would be great for any little girl that loves to dress up. It’s amazing how many different kinds of dresses there are! My daughters have outgrown this stage but we had plenty during that age 3-9 years. Princess Elena, being the newest princess, should be a big hit with little girls.

    • Marlaine January 20, 2017 at 1:12 am

I was shocked at the huge variety, but I suppose there are even more Cinderella gown options. They are rather beautiful, aren’t they? I love the dramatic look of these Princess Elena gowns… and the styling differences to some of the other Princess dresses for little girls that are so popular. I’m sure little girls will have a lot of fun doing “Spanish” dancing in them!

  12. Linda July 25, 2017 at 7:14 pm

What a blessing! I have been trying to update my princess knowledge. The last Disney princess I knew about was Elsa from Frozen. My child got the Elena costume as a gift and I had no clue who she was. I really like this post. You totally informed me.
Thank you! This is great! Now I can go and watch the show…haha

    • Marlaine July 27, 2017 at 5:19 pm

It’s hard to keep up with all of them, isn’t it? I think Elena didn’t take off as much as Elsa and Anna did… but who knows… maybe she’ll suddenly be “everywhere” too! Maybe you’ll be seeing hundreds of pretty little Princess Elena characters this coming Halloween! And now you’ll know who they are! 🙂

Have a lovely day, and thanks for commenting!
